Thermostatic Mixer Valves (TMVs) are designed to blend hot and cold water to a safe, controlled temperature—helping prevent scalding while maintaining comfort and hygiene. They are commonly installed in commercial settings such as care homes, hospitals, schools, gyms, and public washrooms.
Over time, TMVs can become clogged with scale or debris, reducing their effectiveness and risking dangerously high water temperatures or bacterial growth, including Legionella. Regular servicing is essential to ensure valves operate correctly and meet health and safety standards.
In line with HTM 04-01, BS 7942, and manufacturer recommendations, TMVs should be inspected and serviced at least once a year. This includes:
-
Checking temperature accuracy and adjustment range
-
Cleaning strainers and filters
-
Inspecting for scale build-up and wear
-
Verifying failsafe mechanisms
-
Replacing worn or faulty parts
